These type of cases are taken on a contingency basis where no fee is earned unless there is a successful result. Costs are advanced by the attorney and deducted from the clients portion of any successful recovery. Costs, such as filing fees, court reporter fees, expert witness fees and investigative expenses are recovered by the attorney only if there is a successful result.

Under this arrangement, an injured client's financial burden is minimized until such time as a successful financial result is obtained. Of course, a clients medical expenses remain the client's responsibility and in the event of a successful recovery are deducted from the client's portion of the recovery after the attorney's fees and expenses have been deducted.
